You may bring down death and destruction from the skies,
and yes, the tears of pain and loss now fill our eyes.
You may destroy our buildings of stone, steel and glass,
But the spirit of our people is something that will forever last.
Your word is one of cowardliness, hate, contempt and death
but in our suffering comes a strength that brings out our best.
You can hide in your holes, ready to strike like a snake,
but our hearts and souls are nothing that you will ever be able to take.
Our brothers, sisters, parents and children may now be gone,
But their love lives on in our hearts, a strong and vibrant song.
Yes, you can attack us, hurt us, kill us and do us wrong,
But the dreams of democracy and the American people will forever go on.
