| One sunny February afternoon about three weeks after my wife had suffered a miscarriage I was driving home from work. I normally leave work around 4:30 P.M. but this day I left work at 5:00 P.M.. I was following a white Pontiac Sunbird convertible which had made a left hand turn to go up a hill. I was driving a blue Marquis with a Jesus license plate on the front of it. As I was making the left hand turn I noticed that time seemed to move in slow motion as if standing still. I looked up and saw a tractor trailer in the wrong lane coming down the hill. He apparently lost his brakes. As he was flying down the hill he hit the Sunbird head on pushing the car in front of mine. I was half way through the intersection and hadn't completed my turn when all of this happened. . After the car was struck the truck had a choice to turn either left or right. He turned left. Had he turned right he would have crushed me. The truck driver could not stop at the stop sign. As the truck went through the intersection he made a left hand turn and rolled over. I got out of my car and opened the door of the Sunbird. I saw a man lying on the front seat in a pool of blood. I was frightened and didn't know what to do since the man was probably dead. I laid my hands on him and began to pray and suddenly, I was praying in tongues. I'm not the most religious man but at that time that is what I was suppose to do. I prayed hard for approximately two minutes and the man revived. He asked what had happened and I explained. I also asked him if he wanted me to pray for him and he said yes. Other people were at the scene and some brought blankets to keep him warm as I continued to pray. I instructed them not to move him for the ambulance was on it's way. Some one was there with a cell phone and the injured man asked if someone could call his wife. The ambulance arrived and proceeded to remove the man from the car. His seat belt wasn't fastened. Since it was rush hour they decided to get a helicopter from Mercy Hospital named Angel One. It was a big blue helicopter and it air lifted him to the hospital. I wanted to follow up on his condition and I contacted the hospital a week later. I found out he had been released. A true miracle.
Looking back I know I was grieving the loss of my unborn child. I was wondering if God used my child as a messenger that day to warn me that I was in danger of a very close call.
Praise God for his faithfulness. |
