Even In The Hard Times God Is There

Times were tough for my husband and myself as we worked for a children's home in Texas. The pay was very low but the good out weighed the bad. We felt like we had been called by God to care for these children. We gave all we had and then some so you can imagine the shock when I received a phone call from my family saying my father in another state had had a stroke. We had $40.00 to our name and no savings. The car that we drove was a 1979 Ford and wasn't in good shape. They said we needed to get there quickly if we wanted to see him alive. My 17 year old daughter , Cheryl , my husband and myself prayed and decided to just trust God to get us there. We had driven about 150 miles when all of a sudden we heard a loud bang. We couldn't figure out what or where that came from. A few minutes later we found out as smoke billowed out from under the hood. We were in Ore City, Texas and so we pulled up to a car parts store and asked the manager what he thought it could be. We had thrown a rod and burned our motor up. We had no money and no way to pay for anything. Plus we needed to be in Arkansas for my father. My husband went to a car lot and tried to buy a car but we had not been at our job for a year and our income was too small. We didn't know what to do. Cheryl was in the back seat of the car when we prayed for the Lord to help us.

Suddenly a man knocked on the driver's side window
and my husband rolled the window down . The man handed my husband the keys to a very nice car and said "Bring it back when you're through." We had never met or seen this man. We didn't know him from Adam nor him us. He said he knew the story and we told him we didn't know how long we would be gone. We couldn't believe our ears. We didn't have any time to waste. We found my Dad alive and we were able to spend some time with him and he did recover. As we returned the car the manager of the parts store told us, "People, this is more of a miracle than you know. That man is the meanest man in town." For us he was an angel that God used. My daughter Cheryl still talks about how God blessed us that day.
