![]() A Small Child Healed |
| One day when the telephone rang I answered to hear my brother's voice sounding very grave. Jim is usually an upbeat person who laughs and jokes a lot, so I knew immediately something was wrong.
Indeed there was. Jim had been renovating his home and had removed several doors inside their home. His oldest daughter, Vicky, had fallen down the stairs hitting her head on a door that he had standing against the wall in the hall. Vicky was a beautiful 4 years old with pretty blonde hair and blue eyes. Jim called me first as I am the "religious" one in the family. His voice trembled on the verge of tears as he told me that the neurosurgeon was about to leave, his shift being over as they arrived at the hospital, had decided to stay. Vicky was hospitalized with a fractured skull. My brother didn't know whether to be relieved or more worried, did this mean it was that bad. I assured Jim that having the surgeon there was a good thing, they had not seen the need for to operate right then, however, if she took a turn for the worse they would not have to wait for the doctor to come from home, he was right there and could act swiftly. He sent Jim and his wife Chris home telling them the child they had at home needed them more than Vicky right then, as she was not even aware they were there. I told my husband what Jim had said and told him I was going upstairs to pray for Vicky. Naturally I was worried and my heart heavy as I went into prayer, after a while I felt this wonderful peace come over me. I came downstairs and told my husband that Vicky would be OK I just knew it. My brother Jim told me that when they went to the hospital early the next morning, they found Vicky sitting up in bed eating breakfast, she greeted them with a cheerful "Hello Mom, hello Dad" Jim said he couldn't thank the neurosurgeon enough, he said "I just kept saying thank you, thank you" The doctor showed them the x-rays they had taken when they first brought her in. My brother said "I am no doctor but her skull was laying open, even I could see that." The doctor said if you want to thank anyone thank the man upstairs, we didn't do anything, he did, we just kept watch over her, and he marveled at the miracle of her recovery. They kept her for ten days just for observation.
Today Vicky is a happy, healthy teenager and my brother does not doubt that God loves him and cares for him. |
