In His Love

During our employment at a Texas children's home, my husband Will and I became acquainted with many wonderful Christian people. Two of these were a couple by the name of Sharon and Marvin Applin. This couple had touched our lives in so many wonderful ways. We saw the walk they had with the Lord daily and could feel the presence of the Lord when they stopped in to say hello. Marvin and Sharon spent most of their time ministering to prisoners and their families in Texas and neighboring states.

What a lot of people didn't know was that Sharon was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1987. After many hospital stays and much pain, Sharon continued to serve the Lord right along with her husband at most of the prisons. Sharon said, "I knew He could heal me, I just didn't know when." Sharon had to learn to walk over again 3 times. MRI's showed an abundance of scare tissue in the brain. But Sharon knew, no matter what, she was going to keep going to the prisons to sing and minister to these men and women to whom God had called them. Sometimes that was no easy task, but they both were faithful and in Sharon's words, "Nothing, but nothing, was going to keep them for working for God." Many, many people prayed for Sharon over the years. Then an inmate had a dream of a beautiful blonde young woman in a long blue dress coming and singing for them and a man carrying her out. He told the Chaplain that God would heal her if he would pray for her. The day Sharon came to that prison to put on the program, she wrestled with the idea of wearing the blue dress because it was so hot. But she felt in her heart that God wanted her to wear it. So she did.

Before the service the Chaplain came up to her and told her what the inmate had said. He had never laid eyes on Sharon but he instantly knew her when he walked in. He
also knew Sharon's husband, Marvin, as the man who carried her out. The Chaplain and a few other men anointed Sharon and prayed for her. They had gone to another unit and saw God really bless and touch these inmates and her health seemed to grow worse. After leaving through the last gate, after a meeting Oct.6,1996 in the Oklahoma State Penitentiary at McAlester, Oklahoma, Sharon laid her head back on the seat and was praising God for all he had done and all of a sudden she felt like a shotgun blast had gone off in the back of her head. She could walk but she didn't know who or where she was. She didn't know what happened. It was like fire shooting through every blood vessel in her head. Marvin knew something was wrong when she climbed in bed that night not herself. They finally got her to the doctors. They said they thought it was an aneurysm that had burst in her head, and was still leaking. She lost her vision and most of her speech.

Sharon prayed and told God, "All these years it's been my mind and my determination and your strength that has kept me going! Now I don't even have my mind. If you want me to continue, I can't talk straight or even think, you're going to have to fix it. Within a short time she began to feel better. Later she did some MRI tests and the results that came back were shocking. The doctors compared all the tests from before with the new test and all the scar tissue had completely disappeared. She had lost the side vision in both eyes and it was restored. As Sharon was on her knees by her coffee table praying, she said, "I saw Jesus sitting right in front of me." I thought I would faint for sure. Then He took my hands and spoke these words, "I HEALED YOU BECAUSE I NEED YOU! YOU MUST GO IN! YOU MUST GO IN! TIME IS SHORT AND RUNNING OUT, LIVES MUST BE SAVED, AND YOU MUST GO IN!" She knew he meant the prisons and jails. Sharon was totally healed and no longer has to take medication just to finish the day. Praise GOD for loving us and Sharon's healing. When I contacted Sharon she had been out in her yard doing yard work in the hot Texas heat; something she has not been able to do for years. God has given Sharon her heart's desire for, you see, she loves to sing and she will sing anywhere for Jesus. And now better than ever. Sharon and Marvin have learned a valuable lesson, and that's one of obedience and God loves them both and they love him. Sharon now walks, talks and sings like an angel.

God does that for those who love and obey him.
