An Answered Prayer {\o/} |
| Eleven years ago I was admitted to the hospital for a partial hysterectomy or what I thought would be a partial. However, I had to have a complete hysterectomy. I was admitted to the hospital that February day and was scheduled for surgery the next morning. I went into surgery and when it was over, I was put into a room but for some reason I was running a high fever and unable to stay awake. My doctor kept a close eye on me for the next few days and I wasn't getting any better. I awakened a few times and at one point the pain was so bad that I felt as if someone was sticking a knife in my stomach. I remember awakening once when my family was in the room and the looks on their faces told me that there was something terribly wrong. At one point, I told my mom that I wanted to die because the pain was so bad. They had to feed me by tubes and kept me sedated. My doctor ordered a scan of my entire body to see what was wrong. At that time my family went home for some rest until the results came back. When they did, my doctor come rushing into my room with the nurses and a stretcher and told me there was no time to waste and that I must have emergency surgery. He told me that poison had spread through my entire body and that he had asked for my family. He said they were on their way back to the hospital but that I had to sign forms for a blood transfusion to be done. My Dad was called, who at that time lived in North, Carolina with his new wife. They told him that I was in surgery and that I might not survive. I was in ICU for a week after surgery. I was given a complete hysterectomy and told I was very ill. However, I began to show signs of recovery. My doctor came into my room and said, "you are a miracle. Only God saved you" and when he said that I knew this it true for doctors do not use those words. All I know is God kept me alive for a reason. He knew that I wasn't ready to come home yet. I had not become the person I needed to be to enter heaven and he gave me a second chance, and for that I'm grateful. Life has been so great to me. I have been blessed with a lot. All of my prayers were answered. We go through trials in life to make our faith stronger. Now I look around and I see where God has been there to carry me through where before I was blinded. But now I see so clearly. I want to thank God for giving me life, and all he has done for me. And this is where my prayer was answered. I have three wonderful children and while I was ill and in the hospital, under the circumstances, my dad and his wife adopted my children and the two youngest didn't remember me but I prayed to God to allow me to live long enough for them to know me and the truth and he did. So I know there is a God and he does answer prayers. Pamela M. Peck |
