| The Hummingbird

by: Patricia Osborn Orton
The hummingbird-so tiny,
But Oh, what joy it brings
As it flits from flower to flower
On colorful, fragile wings.
It never wastes a moment,
Gathering nectar all day long.
It's tiny wings move swiftly,
making a little song.
It comes and goes so quickly
You hardly know it's there
But if your eye is fast enough
You can see it's colors rare.
Hummingbird, where are you?
I have waited patiently.
The flowers are in the garden,
Full of nectar, just for thee.
