Many rumors have been floating around the
internet since the attack on America September 11, 2001. Some
are true and some are not. Check it out here before you forward

ANGELWINGS HAS LEARNED THE FOLLOWING REGARDING
E MAIL FORWARDED MESSAGES AND OTHER STRANGE ITEMS THAT HAVE BEEN
CIRCULATING ON THE NET SINCE THE SEPT 11, 2001 ATTACK.
The prophecy widely attributed to Nostradamus in recent days originated in a Canadian student's essay from the 1990s. The advance warnings said to have been received by Jews is false, as is the miraculous tale of the man who rode falling debris from the World Trade Center 82 floors down to safety.
But a United Airlines pilot Sept. 15 did make scathing remarks about security and urged passengers to overpower any hijackers that might get onboard.
And President Bush did tell senators in
an Oval Office meeting Sept. 13: ''I'm not going to fire a $2
million missile at a $10 empty tent and hit a camel in the butt.''
(And who can blame him I ask you???????)
The
plane that hit the WTC had the flight number Q33NY. Write Q33NY
in a Word document and change the font to wingdings and you get
Q33NY=plane,
two towers, death and the star of David.
NOT TRUE!
Actual Flight numbers: 11 (!), 175,
77, 93. You do get those symbols if you type in the given flight
number but the flight number is incorrect!!
Last photo atop one of the world trade towers and camera with
film was saved and film developed. False. The date on the photo
appears to have been altered.
This statement is based on the following facts:
1. Some of the
pixelization in and around the date is thought by many to be evidence
that it was pasted into the picture.
2. It was a nice September day on the eleventh and the person
in this picture appears to be braced for the cold.
3. At TruthOrFiction.com, reader James O. looked up the weather
for that day from Accuweather. The temperature was headed for
a high of 81 degrees.
4. Several readers pointed out that the angle of the shadows on
the tower don't seem to be evident on the airplane.
5. James O. also pointed out that neither of the jetliners was
in level flight when hitting the towers. They both struck while
in a banking turn.
6. Reader at truthorfiction.com Walter H. notes that the airplane
seems to be too high compared with where the American jet hit
the building.
7. Of the two towers of the World Trade Center, only one
of them had an outside observation deck, tower #2, also called
the south tower. The south tower was struck by a United Airlines
plane, not an American airlines plane. The aircraft in this picture
is an American jet
And last, but not least, the chances of the camera surviving that
inferno is slim and none and even if it did, the film would, most
likely, be damaged by the intense heat and would not develop.
That photo is as clear as a bell.
Both urbanlegends.com and snopes.com have concluded the pictures, widely seen on CNN and in many newspapers, of an evil face in the smoke of the World Trade Center collapse were not doctored or faked.
Snopes.com said the images fall into its ''undetermined or ambiguous veracity'' category, while urbanlegends.com said if viewers are not convinced by lighting, billowing smoke and camera angles as an explanation, they should turn to theologians and philosophers.
But the question of whether an unburned
Bible was found amid the wreckage of the Pentagon is still undetermined.
FALSE
Osama bin Laden is dying of liver cancer
The Klingerman virus, the Muslim day of terror, Nostradamus' prophecy, the poisoned water supply, the 4,000 Jews who stayed home on Sept. 11 and the 70-year-old man who surfed the debris down 80 flights to safety--all of these are fiction. They were made up, misheard or misconstrued--sometimes out of malice, sometimes not--and circulated with haste across the world's e-mail servers in an attempt to make sense of, or assign blame for, the World Trade Center disaster.
Some stories that initially seemed ludicrous--a downtown Starbucks charged frantic rescue workers $130 for three cases of bottled water the day of the disaster, George Bush was targeted for assassination at the G-8 summit, a pair of bound and severed hands was found near ground zero--turned out to be true. The pace of information delivery has also created serious misunderstandings. The rumor that Sept. 22 would be a "Muslim day of terror" and that Boston was specifically targeted came from a good source: John Ashcroft. The Attorney General even called the mayor of Boston and the acting Governor of Massachusetts to warn them of possible attacks. The following day, the FBI rescinded the warning, saying it was based on bad intelligence. If you missed a beat in the news cycle, you were misinformed.
As long as the news keeps happening quickly and a sense of helplessness looms over the culture, the rumors will keep coming. People need to forward something. Normally they pass along jokes, but few are prepared to cross the World Trade Center humor line. Instead, they swap stories, and the outrageousness of the attack has led many to believe that anything is possible.
